Qualifications and Instructions


The Erie Branch of the American Association of University Women will award several scholarships totaling up to $12,000 this year to qualified applicants. Applications must be received by Friday, April 5, 2023. Funds will be awarded in May, 2024.

Adult Student Scholarship Requirements:

The scholarships are for Erie County women who are full or part-time non-traditional students enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program accredited by the Middle States Association. An applicant must:

  • be an Erie County resident age 24 or over
  • be working toward her first undergraduate degree
  • have completed at least twenty-four (24) credit hours
  • have a GPA of at least 3.0
  • have not previously received an AAUW adult student scholarship award

Refugee and Immigrant Scholarship Requirements:

The scholarships are for Erie County women who are full or part-time students enrolled in an accredited college/university. An applicant must:

  • be a refugee or immigrant to the United States within the last 10 years
  • be an Erie County resident
  • accepted at an accredited college or university
  • have not previously received an AAUW RISA scholarship award

In addition to this form, we will need a biographical essay of between 250-500 words, a copy of the student's most recent transcript (unofficial fine for now), and completion of the financial statement.

As indicated on the application, applicants must submit the completed materials (either hard copy or email) by April 5, 2024.
